Finishing Up Fall and Looking Forward

Civil Controversy is wrapping up the fall term and looking towards the winter and spring terms. Currently we are after Naomi Klein to discuss her recent book "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism." Maude Barlow: to share her activism experience surrounding the right to water and particularly the proliferation of privatized water rights by Multi-National Corporations. And Dan Savage to speak on Proposition 8: the California ballot proposition that passed allowing marriage to be defined as the union between a man and a woman.

That being said, Civil Controversy created this blog to get feedback and suggestions for speakers that the Western community would like to see come to campus.

Also, I would like this to be a chance for students and faculty to share their frustrations and praises of Civil Controversy in general as well as specific events that we put on during the fall term.
